Its been a long time since I have done a video about my diet. I had some down time and just decided to make a video. This wasn't planned so I didn't have my camera or tripod, I literally just sat down on a table and filmed with my cell phone. For those that dont know I only eat one meal a day aka "OMAD" I have been doing this for almost 3 years now. I started my journey way back in July 15, 2017. At the time I weighed 176 pounds. I was in horrible shape and had stomach issues. The crazy thing is that I thought I was in good shape, I exercised every day and I was on a pretty strict diet. I tried almost every diet out there and nothing ever worked long term. I would lose weight for the first few weeks but would gain everything back in 2-3 months. It wasn't until I started Intermittent Fasting and OMAD until I dropped all my fat and kept it off. I got down to 145 pounds and stayed between 145-150 for the past 2 1/2 years.
It wasnt until the Covid 19 lockdown that I started to gain weight. It was mainly due to my diet. For the past 2 1/2 years I have been on a strict diet. I have been eating only One Meal A Day almost every single day except for major holidays or events like Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays and weddings. Its has been an easy routine for me, I own a Vietnamese restaurant so I ate my one meal at the restaurant 6 days a week. I ate pretty much the same thing every day which was either Pho (all cabbage no noodles), Buddah Stir Fry, Shaken Beef or a salad. My diet was pretty much 80% veggies and 20% protein. The 1 day that I was off it was my cheat day, although I still only ate one meal a day, that meal was mostly fried food. Since being on lockdown we had to change our hours because our business has been slow. We are now closed 3 days a week. On those 3 days I wanted to go out and buy food and help support other businesses. Unfortunately I made a lot of bad choices when ordering. When I use to have only 1 cheat day it didn't effect my weight, but eating bad 3 days a week definitely did. I ate everything, fried chicken, burgers, pizza, mexican food and when I got done eating I would raid my pantry and eat a bag of chips, cookies, chocolate, etc. I celebrated my birthday several times in the end of April and had a lot of alcohol which is uncommon for me now. In 8 short weeks my weight went from 148 pounds to 161 pounds. Once I hit over 160 pounds. I now bring food from the restaurant and cook at home on 2 of the days and only buy take out from other restaurants once a week. I also stopped eating chips, chocolate or any desserts. In less than 1 week I went from 161 pounds down to 153. I know that most of this weight was water weight not fat. I know that when I eat a lot of fried foods with lots of salt and sodium my body retains a lot of water and my weight goes up. This is why I normally don't care about the scale and normally base my health on how I look.
Most people know that diet and exercise is the key to weight loss but to take it a step further; if you fast for 16+ hrs and it will be even more effective. I am not on a particular "diet" such as Keto, Atkins etc. I just eat as much veggies as possible and cut out all processed carbs.
